The Honda fit topped Consumer Reports’ list for new-car best values, besting over 280 competitors to take the crown. The Fit earned a value score of 2.08. Scores are expressed in relation to the value of the average vehicle, which is designated as a 1.00. A score of 2.08, then is more than double the value of the average model.
To access these scores, Consumer Reports performs a battery of tests, including a combination of performance, utility, and reliability for the cost of the car, and considers owner costs throughout the first five years of ownership.
In other words, the better a car performs in road tests, reliability for the money and the less it costs to own, the greater the value, and the Honda Fit navigated the full gauntlet of tests and competitors to take the top place.
