Honda reached out to university science and engineering students across America with the introduction of the iDream Student Challenge, a program that awards prizes to teams of students who propose the most creative engineering solutions and innovative technologies in the categories of electronics, mobility and materials.
A panel of experts from within and outside of Honda reviewed all submissions and selected a winner from each category. The proud winners were:
Solar Solutions, from the Ohio State University for their Solar Thermal Electric Car Charging Station; No Abandonment, from the Ohio State University for their Baby wireless sensor; and Smaller Memories to Remember, also from Ohio State, for their Oxide Nanowires for Next Generation Solid State Memory Devices.
Each team was given national recognition and an $8000 cash prize. They are also invited to attend the Honda Initiation Grant 2010 Symposium, in Columbus, Ohio in July. Honda hopes this program, and more like it, will inspire a whole new generation of engineers to tackle the world’s issues.
