"Miami MetroZoo is a staple within the Miami community and an attraction for many to our city.
"This July 4th will be a reason for two birthday celebrations as July 4th, 2010 will mark the 30th anniversary of the Miami MetroZoo.
The celebration will reveal many new changes and updates to the beloved zoo. No longer, will the zoo be known as “MetroZoo” all who reference it will now bellow, “ Zoo Miami”. To make the celebration even sweeter, Zoo Miami will be extending admission to park goers for just $5 July 3-5.
All weekend long entertainment will include disc jockeys playing the best 80’s music. On July 3 and 4 at 1 pm, best 80’s outfit contests will take place with prizes like year-long memberships to the Zoo. Zoo Miami lapel pins and collectable cups will be given to the first 1,000 people that visit the Zoo on July 3 and 5 (one giveaway per day). Guests will also be asked to sign a large commemorative banner celebrating the Zoo’s 30th birthday that will be displayed inside the Zoo on that weekend says their website.
And remember all those photos that you have from yesteryear at the Zoo? Well, Zoo Miami wants you to share! Send in the pictures by June 15th and you could very well find your photo on the wall at Dr. Wilde’s World!
