"Driving itself is a task that takes the utmost concentration add any other distraction and you increase your odds of an accident.
"Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do when Mother Nature decides to add distractions of her own- like today with the torrential rain. So, how do you stay safe? Below are a few tips that will keep you on the road and safe.
- Slow down. Any change in road conditions is going to mean a change in how your vehicle responds.
- Stay in the middle lanes- water tends to pool in the outside lanes.
- Avoid using your brakes when possible- remove your foot from the accelerator to slow down.
- Use the 6-second rule. Ensure that there are six seconds between you and the car ahead of you.
- Make sure that your headlights are on so that other drivers are aware of your position.
